Swaffham builder Vince Byrne has been honoured for his dedication to building homes of exceptional quality in the first round of the annual NHBC Pride in the Job awards.

Vince, of Avant Homes Midlands, won the award for his management of the Redlands Park site in Swaffham, joining almost 450 other Quality Award winners from across the UK.

Now in its 36th year – Pride in the Job recognises the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. As well as undergoing spot checks on the day-to day running of the sites, each site manager is assessed across 37 areas of site management, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and the quality controls they have in place.

Speaking on the award Vince said: “I was over the moon when I heard the news about the award. The award may have my name on it but it represents the combined efforts of myself, James Willis, my assistant site manager, and the whole site team at Redlands Park.

“The next stage of the process is to see whether we’ll receive the Seal of Excellence at the ceremony in September, but as it stands I’m delighted with the recognition of the Pride in the Job Award.”

Avant Homes’ Midlands managing director, Glyn Mabey, said: “The NHBC award is fully deserved by Vince and his team at Redlands Park because it recognises their determination and drive to take the quality of modern properties to a higher standard than ever before.

“The success experienced at the development is in no small part due to the fact we are setting the standard for new homes, and are offering housebuyers more for their money than any other housebuilder. I advise those looking for a property in the area to visit the development and see the fantastic homes on offer and find out more about buying schemes such as Avant Homes’ Full Value Part Exchange.”

Richard Hartshorn, regional director for NHBC, said: “Congratulations to Vince, who should be commended for building homes of an outstanding standard in the region.

“Pride in the Job recognises site managers who produce the best quality new homes, built and finished to the highest possible standards. Most importantly, homeowners who buy a Pride in the Job award-winning home benefit from a high quality product.”

The national title will be announced at the Pride in the Job final in London in January.
