Housing regeneration specialist Lovell has been shortlisted in the Local Authority Building Control East Anglia Building Excellence Awards for its work on Lynn’s Hillington Square for Freebridge Community Housing.
Lovell is a finalist in the category of Best Partnership with a Local Authority for its partnership with CNC Building Control. CNC Building Control carries out the statutory building control functions for several local authorities, including that of West Norfolk Council. Their officers inspect projects during construction to ensure they are fully compliant with the current building regulations.
The LABC awards, judged by a panel of industry experts, celebrate the region’s best-quality building projects and construction professionals. The winners will be announced at the 2016 awards evening at King’s College, Cambridge, on Friday, June 24, which will be hosted by BBC Look East presenter Amanda Goodman.
Lovell is carrying out a large-scale regeneration programme at Lynn’s Hillington Square Estate for Freebridge. The company’s team recently started work on the third phase of this comprehensive improvement project after successfully completing phase two in autumn 2015.
The third phase of the £30 million programme includes the refurbishment of 52 flats, the demolition of three stair cores and walkway links and the creation of two new staircase and lift cores. Lovell will also upgrade utilities and carry out new hard and soft landscaping.
Lovell regional director Simon Medler says: “We’re delighted that our work on the Hillington Square project has been recognised in the LABC awards. Our strong working partnership with CNC Building Control has been instrumental to the success of the scheme, ensuring that the regeneration project is being delivered to the highest quality and safety standards.”
Lovell has also been nominated in two other categories of the LABC East Anglia Building Excellence Awards, with a shortlisting for the title of Best Affordable New Housing for its work on a Suffolk housing regeneration programme and Lovell senior site manager, Rory Drew, is a finalist in the LABC Site Supervisor of the Year category.
