NEW jobs have been created thanks to the opening of a fuel distribution and supply business partnership in Terrington St Clement.

In the first instance six new jobs have been created with a further ten or more due to follow on during the next 12 months.

Terrington Gas and Fuels, based at Waterlow Nursery, Waterlow Road, is set to be the fastest-growing distributor of LPG bottled gas, coal, smokeless fuel, charcoal, and logs in the area.

“Our service provides the full package,” said senior partner Fred Turner, who has 15 years’ experience in utilities.

“We provide free delivery in the local area and our personnel are trained to change over bottles or empty coal into bunkers for customers.”

The business is the region’s largest partner with Flo Gas and CPL Fuels. It practices efficient stock management and will ask new customers what types of gas and fuel they usually use and approximately how much.

“This way, we can ensure we have plenty of the ‘right’ stock in, ready for delivery and not waste time and money keeping dead stock.

“Those efficiency savings are passed on to the customer as better services and lower prices,” said Dave McKenzie, a partner in the business whose responsibilities include looking after the distribution side.

As winter approaches, the business is assuring customers that there will be no price hikes.

“We will hold our low prices all through the winter period and that’s a promise,” said Connie McKenzie, Dave’s wife, who looks after the registration and administration of new customers. The firm is also running an emergency out-of-hours cover for gas over the winter months and will deliver within the hour 24/7.
