The Port of Lynn is set to benefit from major investment in new equipment and infrastructure, including a new £1.1 million crane.
The crane will be operational in all areas of the port and will be able to handle the next generation of wider vessels likely to call at Lynn.
A spokesman for Associated British Ports said: “By accommodating wider vessels at the ports, it opens up an opportunity to introduce new business and customers to the port and the area.” The port is also installing a number of solar panels across sheds in line with ABP’s commitment to sustainable energy.
A new shed costing in the region of £3 million with a 15,000 tonnes capacity is also due to be built to replace an existing one.
New fork lift trucks used for loading cargo have already been put into operation. With new business being generated from the investment, it is set to lead to more jobs.
