Lynn’s Mill House Vets are celebrating with the announcement that one of their vets has been awarded the BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association) Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
Dr Rhiannon Jones first realised that medicine was her strength in 2008, winning the small animal medicine award at St George’s University. Although Dr Jones still really enjoys soft tissue surgery, she is passionate about problem solving in her medical cases and so decided to embark upon the three year BSAVA medicine certificate, the equivalent to a master’s qualification, in order to learn more advanced medicine and to be able to offer the best veterinary care to her patients.
Dr Jones said ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my certificate, attending 20 all day lectures over the first two years, before sitting a testing written exam and completing ten case reports for assessment. After the final oral exam, I was delighted to achieve the highest possible grade, a distinction for my efforts. It has been difficult managing my time with a full time job, including being on call out of hours, two ponies, two dogs and a guinea pig but well worth it!’
Dr Jones has also been nominated for the fourth time for Vet of the Year in the annual Veterinary Industry Awards.
She will receive her Certificate at the small animal vet’s Annual Congress in Birmingham on April 7.
Rhiannon is one of the team of ten vets at Mill House Veterinary Hospital, all with their own areas of interest and expertise.
Mill House Veterinary Hospital is the only accredited RCVS small animal hospital in West Norfolk.
