Campaign to raise money for new eco-classroom in Middleton was under way in 2014

In our weekly Memory Lane Schooldays feature, we look back at a campaign for a new classroom in 2014…

Youngsters at the Buttercups Nursery in Middleton are pictured in June 2014 during a campaign to raise enough money for a new eco-classroom to be built in the grounds of the village primary school.

The nursery was meeting on weekday mornings during term time at the village hall, but wanted to move so it could offer all-day care throughout the year.

Around £17,000 had been raised and it was thought £50,000 was needed to improve chances of securing grants for the £200,000 project.

Buttercups leaders said the move was vital to reverse a decline in numbers using the nursery and guarantee its future.
