Work is already well underway to prepare the town’s entry for this year’s Anglia In Bloom competition.
And, having won a gold award in three of the past four years, community leaders are appealing for more volunteers to help maintain and improve the standards this time around.
Town council officials are looking for is looking for what it says is “a small number” of members to join the Downham in Bloom committee, which will plan the town’s entry.
A spokesman said: “The committee, which meets monthly, manages projects such as the community orchard and sensory garden, and plans new initiatives to keep Downham Market competitive in the event.”
Groups including the WI, the Rotary club and the Allotments Association are already represented on the committee.
Volunteers are also being sought to help with practical tasks, such as watering and planting, before competition judges visit the town this summer.
