Sit in a Stream team raise £9,000 for Norfolk charity
An intrepid fundraising team has completed its aim of having a dip in every waterway in Norfolk!
The Sit In A Stream team cycled between all of the rivers, streams and becks over four days, looking to raise sponsorship for Little Lifts, the Norfolk based charity which supports people undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
Their efforts have already raised over £9,000.
The challenge started at Thornham, winding its way through over 320 miles of the county and 79 ‘sits’, finishing at Bawburgh on July 3.
John Ives from Sit In A Stream, said: “The challenge was tough but we all had an amazing time and really helped each other through. Everyone said how much they enjoyed being part of the event and we all feel incredibly proud to have raised so much money for an amazing charity. This will allow Little Lifts to provide over 400 support boxes to women and men with breast cancer.
“The support from everyone has been fantastic and we want to thank everyone who has kindly donated. We were even given donations by people we met on the route who stopped to ask about the charity, some who’d even received support from Little Lifts.
“For me personally I wanted to do something in honour of my partner Becky, who passed away from breast cancer last year. Becky was a great supporter and friend of Little Lifts so I am over the moon with how the event went and the amount raised which will help so many people”
Oa Hackett, founder of Little Lifts, said: “Little Lifts provides free thoughtfully curated gift boxes to provide practical and emotional support to people during their breast cancer treatment. We cannot do what we do without the support from people like the team behind ‘Sit in a Stream’.
“A community fundraising challenge like no other - 12 months of planning and we are so proud of what they have achieved. This group have given up hours of their time to plan this unique event and have worked hard to train and fundraise. They are an inspirational group of people helping to make a massive difference. We cannot thank them enough for showing such incredible generosity of spirit.”
