Downham Market ovarian cancer survivor Diane Boothby attends King’s garden party at Buckingham Palace

A cancer survivor known for her dedicated campaigning was invited to the King's garden party.

Diane Boothby, 65, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2022 - and has since gone on to host various fundraisers and events to highlight the disease.

As recognition for her efforts, she was invited to King Charles’ garden party at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate.

Diane said she had an “amazing time”, and she had the chance to speak with Zara Philips and Kate about her campaigning for early diagnosis and fundraising for Target Ovarian Cancer.

Diana said: “Kate also spoke to my daughter about how hard it must have been for them with both parents having cancer.”

Diane said Kate asked how she was, in a show of compassion.

“I said we have a voice, and I am using mine to spread the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer,” Diane said.

“I am also supported now by West Norfolk Council, and Alive Leisure is putting posters in ladies' toilets and changing rooms.”
