A care company in Downham is facing rumours of closure after Companies House comfirmed it was in liquidation.

Care's Elite Limited and Carer's Elite Homecare Limited have been placed into voluntary liquidation by it's directors.

However, the company, which is under new name Carers El!ite Limited, has taken control of all of the assets and contracts which means there will be no pause in running of the business.

Registered Manager Jonathan Lofthouse said: "We had two companies, which were severely affected by the covid pandemic.

"One for home care and another for supplying care homes.

"After seeking advice we had no choice but to put them into voluntary liquidation.

"It was easier to liquidate the two companies and combine them into one - meaning everything, including our accounts is in one place.

"We've changed the logo slightly, but all of our staff and clients are aware of the change, it's been a seamless transition that hasn't affected our carers or service users."

Many in the town believe the company has "gone bust."

One resident said: "It's been closed for three days, that's because it's gone bust."

However, this morning the offices were open the Lynn News can confirm.

Care's Elite has been supplying care in Downham since July 2015, and is a major employer in the town.

Mr Lofthouse was a nominee for the Mayor's Business award in 2018 and a staff member went on to win an award in 2019.

The business has expanded in recent years, supplying care to towns and villages in West Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.

The office is open as usual from 9am-4pm at the High Street in Downham.
