Care home in Downham Market proud of ‘good’ rating

Staff at Downham Grange nursing home are celebrating after receiving a ‘good’ rating in their latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.

The inspectors, who visited the Kingsley Healthcare-run home in Clackclose Road in June, rated the service ‘good’ overall, and in each category – caring, effective, responsive, safe and well-led.

Home manager Eugene Nyamande said: “I am thrilled by the outcome. It’s been a real team effort to return our home to a good rating and I am proud of all of my staff for working so hard.

“It reflects what the community thinks about us. We are proud to be highly regarded as a friendly home offering really good person-centred care.”

Inspectors reported that staff showed concern for people and made sure they had everything they needed.

They said there were sufficient staff on duty and that they had the skills to meet people’s needs.

Leadership in the home was also praised, with inspectors saying the manager had “taken action” to address concerns identified in previous inspections.

“We found there was an improved atmosphere and work ethic in the home,” they added. “We found staff were happy, they like coming to work and they liked and respected the manager.”
