Case for a new Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn remains strong as plans continue
In her monthly Ward Round column, Alice Webster, the CEO of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Lynn, discusses the new building project…
At the end of July Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced that the government will be carrying out a review of the New Hospital Programme. We fully understand the Chancellor’s need to ensure all public money is used to deliver the greatest value for taxpayers.
I believe our case for a new building remains strong, we are investment-ready ready and our team are working hard to be able to stay on track to deliver a new hospital by 2030.
We are regularly speaking to our colleagues at the New Hospital Programme, NHS England and the government and are keen to make progress with our plans as soon as possible. As soon as we have more information on the review we will share this with you all.
I'm also proud to share that the finalists for our annual Team QEH Awards, sponsored by PA Consulting, have been announced. This year, we broke records with over 700 nominations! Congratulations to all our finalists and nominees who showcase the incredible dedication and talent at our hospital.
The public is now invited to vote for the John Voaden Volunteer of the Year award, celebrating those who have significantly enhanced the experience of our patients, their families, and our staff. Last year, our volunteers contributed over 20,000 hours to the hospital. To learn about the finalists and cast your vote, visit the QEH website.
In our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional care, we’ve opened a new Resuscitation Unit within our Emergency Department this week. This state-of-the-art unit, featuring spacious rooms, a dedicated children’s area, and a private relatives' room, enhances our ability to care for critically ill or injured patients with immediate access to life-saving equipment.
Next week, we’re opening our new Discharge Lounge, providing a spacious area for patients awaiting discharge. This new facility, located on the ground floor near the Macmillan Unit, will free up space on our wards for those who need it most.
Thank you to everyone who supports us and to all our dedicated staff.
