Cast revealed for Hunstanton’s Princess Theatre pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
The festive season is approaching fast and that can only mean one thing - panto time. Oh yes it does, as the stars of this year’s Hunstanton show have been revealed.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will be coming to the stage at the Princess Theatre, with a brand new cast who are excited to put on a show to wow audiences from Saturday, December 7 all the way through until Sunday, January 5.
This year there will be a familiar face from over the years returning to the stage.
Performing as Dame Dotty will be Mervyn Francis, who will be returning to Hunstanton for his seventh pantomime at the theatre since starting his career.
This year will be Mervyn’s 55th year year, having started his career playing the villain.
Mervyn said: “I have played Dame many times but I started off actually specialising as a villain. Then I progressed onto being pantomime Dame and I have done that for the last ten or 15 years.
“My favourite thing about playing the role is the warmth and involving the children. If they warm to you as a pantomime dame, you get a lot of reward from that.”
Throughout the panto, audiences can expect plenty of mischief from Dame Dotty.
Joining Mervyn is Laura Roberts, who is playing the role of Snow White.
Laura is very excited about being part of this year's cast, as she loves “interacting with children and seeing their reactions”.
Laura said: “I am feeling very excited to be in the panto - I can't wait to get started on it.”
This year will be the second pantomime that she has taken part in.
She added: “I love anything theatre-wise, musical theatre and singing.”
Snow White will be cheeky and feisty, and Laura is sure the children will look up to her.
Joining them is Emma Elizabeth, who will be playing antagonist Queen Horibella.
Emma, who is returning to panto after taking a break, is no stranger to the shows - and has lost count of the amount she has been in.
She said: “I am really excited - I have not played a baddy recently.
Her favourite thing about the panto is the energy of the children, and she particularly likes school shows.
Queen Horibella is sure to get the ‘boos’ from the crowds.
Meanwhile, Jessica Broadbent will be taking on the roll as Fairy Thorn.
She is very excited for the festive season, and has quite a bit of experience on stage.
She said: “I love that it is so traditional, and everyone loves a panto. It’s a nice Christmassy thing to do.”
Fairy Thorn will be helping Snow White as she travels through the forest.
