Debenham LC 0

Swaffham Town 3

Leaders Swaffham Town returned with three points from Friends Meadow, historically a place difficult to pick up goals or points.

The Pedlars’ task was made even more trying with a strong gusty wind blowing down the pitch, diagonally, corner to corner. The on-form Pedlars managed to bag both three goals and three points, keeping a clean sheet also for good measure.

The deadlock was broken in the 29th minute, Matt Castellan getting his head to an Alex Vincent corner, thumping the ball wide of the keeper and high into the back of the net.

Frustration doubled for the Hornets on the stroke of half-time, this time a low driven corner from the right, Castellan bagging his brace from two yards out amongst defensive confusion.

The second half saw the Pedlars play against the wind. Clearly Debenham were familiar with the conditions, and tried to play long hit and run tactics, but the aerial strength of the Swaffham back four stifled their attempts or over-hit balls were mopped up by keeper Lee Brooks.

The final blow came with 10 minutes to go, Liam Reed playing Dylan Edge through. He beat the right back and passed into the net leaving the goalkeeper standing.

Downham Town beat visiting Team Bury 2-0.
