The final of the Ben Smith Memorial Cup, the Crown Fire Central & South Norfolk League’s premier cup competition, will be between defending league champions, Castle Acre Swifts, and Tacolneston who have never won this prize despite their long association with the league, writes John Turner.
Castle Acre beat neighbours Narborough 3-1 while Tacolneston ran out 3-0 winners at Stoke Ferry.
In Division 2, Mulbarton Wanderers A completed a quick double over bottom team Rampant Horse with a comprehensive 12-0 success while Saham Toney enjoyed a home 6-1 win over Hingham Athletic Res.

Division 4 leaders Billingford increased their lead at the top of the table to 4 points after their 2-1 win at Scole Utd. A. Northwold S&SC won 7-0 Scarning Utd. Res. and move up a place to 2nd as a result. Bar 33 became the first team to complete their fixtures with a 5-1 win at Necton Res. to bring their first season to an end. The bottom two, Narborough Res. and Shipdham Res., met and Shipdham won by the only goal of the game to lift themselves out of bottom place.
The Final of the Fen Regis Invitation Shield will be a very local affair with League newcomers, Dereham Taverners, booking their place with a 2-1 home win over Castle Acre Swifts Res. while Wendling had a more comfortable afternoon in their 6-1 win at Yaxham Res.
