Kelly Oliver, a new name on the musical map and familiar to those who listen to BBC Radio 2’s folk show, Whispering Bob Harris or West Norfolk Radio’s Folkspot show, is coming to The Lynn Arms in Syderstone to perform a concert on Friday, June 12.
The stunning singer songwriter accompanies herself on guitar and harmonica and is attracting the big names in the music world as supporters.
She has duetted with Fairport Convention’s Dave Swarbrick and been interviewed by Whispering Bob Harris.
Successive BBC Radio 2 plays for her two most recent single releases have been joined by BBC 6 Music support and her four-star debut album, The Telegraph, attracted both an Emerging Excellence award from Help Musicians UK as well as an Album of the Year award.
Bob Harris described Kelly on air as “an emerging voice of British Folk Music”.
Clive Davis in a review for The Times said: “There was a fine support set from the promising young singer-guitarist Kelly Oliver, an artist who blends traditional values with hints of a bold, indie-pop sensibility.”
And Chris Hawkins on BBC 6 Music said: “Fabulously gifted..something special...delightful fresh new talent with a future take on traditional folk.”
