Downham Market Cats Protection warns against collar use as cat suffers horrific leg injury
A cat has suffered horrific injuries from her collar that almost led to amputation.
Cat's Protection in Downham took Louise in after she was found in Wisbech last week.
She suffered an open wound under her front leg, caused by her collar migrating into the skin.
Louise's owners couldn't be found, despite numerous efforts of locals on social media.
Stacey Ely, Deputy Manager at Cat's Protection said: "We have seen many collar injuries over the years, we always recommend that micro-chipping cats is the
best way to identify them, or using an easy open collar so that it comes off if the feline get's stuck.
"Louise was very unwell with her infection and it was touch and go whether we were going to amputate.
Luckily, we managed to flush out the infection and she is much better. She is a favourite here and we look forward to finding her a forever home."
Cat's protection now have a Just Giving page for the rest of Louise's treatment.
They are looking to raise £1,300.
