A group of friends from South Wootton who enjoy regular social gatherings in each other’s homes have over the last decade raised thousands of pounds for charity.

The Sandy Lane Friendship Group is a group of nine friends who take it in turns to host either a morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea at their home, inviting other friends. Each person attending pays £5.

Said group member Barbara Blacklock: “We have been holding these events for ten years and during that time we have raised a total of £6,276 for a variety of charities.

“Each member takes it in turns to choose a charity. for that year.

“This year, we chose as our charity, the East Anglian Air Ambulance and have raised a total of £750.”

This month the group invited a representative from the charity to receive the cheque.
