New recruits are needed to help a national charity run its support services in West Norfolk, officials have warned.

Community Service Volunteers (CSV), who run a vocal project based in Downham, are looking for new full-time volunteers to join their programmes in this area and across the country.

John Maxwell, the charity’s recruitment and welcome services manager, said: “We urgently need volunteers to fill these roles and are looking for compassionate, capable people who can spare time to help and support those with disabilities, or older people in need of company.

“We are looking for a mix of men and women between the ages of 18 and 35 who can be flexible and willing to travel, as the locations are scattered around the UK and we really need to place people where their help is needed the most.”

Most of the charity’s work supports people with physical or learning disabilities and older people in order to help them live independently.

The volunteers provide companionship and support with practical tasks such as shopping, cooking, personal care or helping access social and leisure activities.
