King's Lynn charity halts annual Christmas appeal

At the last committee meeting of King's Lynn Hospitals League of Friends a decision was reluctantly taken to cease their annual Christmas Dinner Table Appeal.

This appeal began in 1953, the year the league was formed.

The decision was mainly due to uncertainty around the pandemic and the possibility of an influenza outbreak this winter.

Penny Hipkin, chairman said: "Many of our collectors are elderly and as they give up we find it difficult to replace them. Therefore we felt the time was right to stop the appeal.

"We are very grateful to all our collectors both past and present.

"Over the years their efforts have raised a great deal of fund for the league for which we have been very appreciative. "

More positive news is that the committee have been in person again and they have also been able to reopen their shop where they have a collecting box.

Contributions can also be made through Amazon Smile when shopping online by choosing League of Friends of the King's Lynn Hospital.
