A coffee-and-cake morning at Wereham village hall has raised hundreds of pounds for Ukrainian refugees.

Organiser of Saturday's event, Rosemary Pease, said: "It was absolutely fabulous and I am really, really pleased.

"We raised £917.94 for the Ukrainian humanitarian appeal and we were not expecting as much as that.

"A lot of people turned up to our lovely new village hall and were sitting outside on the patio, it was a lovely day.

"There were several things on the edge of the hall going on, table games, guess the number of pins in the pin cushion and of course a compulsory raffle which always does well.

"I was really really chuffed and a family from Whittington, who are hosting a young Ukrainian lady and her toddler, turned up and also another Ukrainian lady and her two children came along, which was nice."
