Michelin-starred restaurant owner Galton Blackiston, ably assisted by Neil Alston, gave a cookery demonstration at Park House, Sandringham on Wednesday.
The two entertained a crowd of more than 100. He produced not only scrumptious dishes, such as chocolate nemesis and Pedro Ximinez (sherry) ice cream, but he also gave tips on everyday cooking such as the tastiest potatoes for mash. Following a fire the kitchen at the Leonard Cheshire Hotel is still out of use. While the hotel is open to guests at Christmas, food will have to be prepared in the temporary kitchen in the car park. The demo raised £3,000 for the Companions of Park House to be spent on treats for the severely-disabled guests who visit the unique hotel, and he was also able to recommend equipment suitable for the kitchen. The next fundraising event, a Suffragette-themed evening, is on Thursday, December 3. A two-course supper will be followed by a fascinating talk by Peter Barratt about his great-grandmother, Alice, and her fight for the right to vote Tickets £12.50 email firstname.lastname@example.org
