Hunstanton chef Nazer Hussain in King’s Lynn court after running away from police when being arrested
A chef who moved to Hunstanton from East London to lead a “quieter life” found himself in court after trying to flee from police when being arrested.
Nazer Hussain, 38, of Northgate in the seaside town, appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he admitted being drunk and disorderly and resisting police arrest on October 22.
Prosecutor Asif Akram told the court that on that date, police were called by a woman who reported that she was being followed by two men near Hunstanton Tesco.
At 6.15pm, police arrived in the vicinity and approached Hussain, who began shouting and swearing loudly in the street.
He was asked to leave the area by the officer and Hussain told them that he was going home.
However, he walked back and started shouting and swearing at the police officer, who then went to arrest him.
Hussain started to run away from the police officer, who then called for back-up. Hussain, who had a total of 34 previous convictions to his name, was later arrested.
In mitigation, George Sorrell said that Hussain, a chef at an Indian restaurant, came to live in Hunstanton for a “quieter life”.
“It is easier to find trouble in East London than it is in Hunstanton,” said Mr Sorrell.
“Things had been going quite well for him, he has earned a good reputation as a chef.
“Unfortunately for one reason or another, he consumed too much alcohol. Like a lot of people who become drunk, he became a nuisance.”
Mr Sorrell added: “He doesn’t want to be anti-social. In Hunstanton, it is important that you live quietly and get on with your neighbours.”
For the offence, Hussain was fined £300 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and court costs of £85.
