Calm Kids Yoga introduces new classes in Hunstanton to include parents
A children's yoga teacher from Hunstanton has set her sights on expanding her services by offering classes which also include parents.
Kyra Cruise, a qualified holistic therapist, teaches children yoga in West Norfolk schools and at local community venues as well as working with youth clubs, brownies and young carers groups.
Now she has started to run classes to include parents, showing them techniques such as guided relaxation, which will help with their children's wellbeing.
She said: "Children can come under so much pressure these days from things such as tests, social media and comparing themselves to others, for example. Very often parents do not know how to deal with children's emotions so by including them in classes, they will be able to learn more about relaxation and mindfulness and improving mental wellbeing."
Kyra, who is also a qualified aromatherapist and naturopathic nutritionist, is passionate about the benefits yoga can offer to children. Through her Calm Kids Yoga classes, her goals are "to develop strong bodies, healthy minds and happy hearts".
She said: "Emotionally children develop confidence, are encouraged to be creative and express themselves and they get better at dealing with anxiety and stress because they learn to use relaxation and breathing techniques in their everyday lives.
"Kids have a safe space to develop a positive body image and an awareness of how to look after their own health."
"Physically yoga builds strength and fitness, flexibility and balance skills, co-ordination and sensory awareness. It also it appeals to non-sporty kids as it’s not competitive."
Kyra teaches all ages from the age of two up to teenagers. Now she is teaching a weekly parent and child class for nursery age children which is held on Tuesdays between 10.30am-11.30am at First Steps, Community Centre in Hunstanton.
There is also Family Fun Yoga and Well-being on Saturdays which is a monthly class held in the Hunstanton Methodist Church Hall, on April 4 and May 2, 4pm-5pm.
