Personnel at RAF Marham and staff at engineering firm BAE have been busy collecting Easter eggs to distribute to charities locally.

Members of the RAF Marham Motorcycle club will be riding out over the Easter weekend to deliver the eggs that they have collected for two Norfolk charities, Break and the Benjamin Foundation.

Both charities provide children’s homes, with the Benjamin Foundation also providing supported accommodation for homeless young adults across Norfolk and support to young carers across the county.

The bikes and riders are all revved up and ready to go to deliver eggs to Lynn, Fakenham, Long Stratton, Thetford, North Walsham and Yarmouth.

With more than 300 eggs to deliver the riders will be accompanied by car drivers who will transport the eggs.

The eggs were donated from RAF Marham personnel and their families and friends along with donations from Fighting Fit Academy in Swaffham, Kinnerton Confectionary in Fakenham and Asda in Swaffham.

Sgt Nina Lines, organiser of the event, said: “RAF Marham Motorcycle Club is proud to be undertaking this charity event so we can show children who have not had a fortunate start in life that there are many people who genuinely care.”

Colleagues from BAE have also been hard at work collecting just over 200 Easter eggs to donate to their 2014 chosen charity, Scotty’s Little Soldiers.

The eggs were handed over to Scotty’s Little Soldiers at an event which took place at RAF Marham last Friday.

Attending the event was Kai, son of founder Nikki Scott and Kai’s granddad, John Robinson, who said: “We can’t thank you enough for what you have all done”.

Gary Bootle, general manager at RAF Marham, said: “I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of the people which makes this activity all the more rewarding. This donation will at the very least put a big smile on lots of children’s faces”.
