Jumpers for cash as schools get festive
There was plenty of colour to be found at schools across West Norfolk as Christmas jumpers were the order of the day on Friday.
The day has become a festive tradition in recent years, raising funds for Save the Children.
And among those taking part were the youngsters at the primary schools in Harpley and Great Massingham.
Infant teacher Becki Nash said: “We all wore our really sparkly Christmas jumpers and it was really wonderful.
“The staff wore theirs too and the parents were notified that Save the Children was the charity we were focusing on.
“The children did PE in their sparkly jumpers.
“The children enjoyed finding out about the importance of charity and knowledge of the wider world and community.
“It was important to learn about the charity and how we are not all the same and that there is more to our world than just our immediate community.”
Elsewhere, students at the Marshland High School in West Walton had raised more than £250 by lunchtime alone for the cause.
Deputy head Thomas Duce said: “Christmas Jumper Day is a fun way for everyone at Marshland High School to get involved with raising money for Save The Children.
“Students and staff wear their festive jumpers on December 10th. We like supporting Save the Children as 100 per cent of proceeds goes directly to supporting children around the world who desperately need help right now.
“We have taken part since Christmas Jumper Day started in 2012 and it is a fun way to raise money to help protect the magic for children around the world.
“Today was lovely to see so many of our students and staff getting involved.”
