Christmas lights raise funds in Stanhoe, ho, ho
A Stanhoe man who has been raising money for many years with his Christmas house lights is ready to switch-on again.
Derek Scales, 73, is hoping to smash the target he set in 2019 after the pandemic affected him last year.
He will be turning his lights on again to raise money for The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House for which he raised £1,800 in 2019.
Derek's son Michael Scales said: "We lost my mother, his wife in November 2019 and we raised money for the Norfolk Hospice Tapping House.
"Dad raised £1,800 in 2019 and over £800 in 2020 as the lockdown affected us.
"Dad is raising money for Tapping House again this year and will be turning his lights on."
The lighting display has been put together over the last five to six weeks as there is a huge area to cover.
Derek said: "It's all for Tapping House, it's important as charities have taken a hit and it is a good cause.
"I've got a smart-meter and when I boil the kettle it's orange but when all the lights are on it's still green.
"It's all LED these days. It takes two or three weeks to take everything down.
"The lights have been up for about three nights now and already raised £57."
A donation bucket is situated in the Duck Inn, Stanhoe, and donations can be made via the Tapping House website
