Pre-school's £50,000 appeal for future home

Clenchwarton Pre-School has launched a £50,000 fundraising drive to secure a permanent home.

With its current temporary base - The Memorial Hall in Black Horse Road - on the market, the charity-run pre-school, which can cater for upto 40 two to five-year-olds, is appealing for financial backing.

That will help towards its future home, which is currently one of three options.

It could be part of Clenchwarton Community Project’s proposed new community centre but the current plans do not meet the required level of safeguarding.

A second option is to buy The Memorial Hall, which is on the market for £225,000 but would need repair work.

The pre-school committee is also considering approaching the village primary school to see if there is scope to be accommodated there.

Kerry O’Leary, chair of the committee, says the future is far from clear but the committee is keeping its options open and whichever route is pursued, money will be required.

“If the Clenchwarton Community Project met our needs for a new-build it would be very good to have a purpose-built space for the pre-school,” she said.
