A young runner has gone the extra mile to raise money for vulnerable babies at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Harry Bland, aged 12 from Clenchwarton, took part in the Mini Gear in May to raise funds for the neonatal intensive care unit. Harry was inspired to participate in the Mini Gear as family friend Jessa Seekings, was born at 24 weeks and spent 10 weeks on the unit. Harry raised £480 for the unit.

Harry said “I knew that I wanted to raise some money but I was unsure of where I wanted the money to go. I knew of Jessa and felt that raising the money for NICU would be the right thing to do as a thank you from Jessa.”

Charlie Bloomfield, Staff Nurse on NICU said “We are grateful to Harry for the tremendous achievement. The money will be usefully put towards improving our facilities, we are hoping to revamp the bedrooms to make them feel more homely, providing an improved patient experience.”
