Coffee morning takes fundraising efforts past £19,000
Over £2,600 was raised during a coffee morning at Swaffham Assembly Rooms this month for the National Autistic Society.
The Just Hair Coffee Morning was organised by Gill Creed, taking her overall fundraising tally to £19,526 from various events including a charity ball in November.
Gill will be running as part of a team of five in the London Marathon next month after her four-year-old nephew Cole Dickerson was diagnosed with autism.
She said: “We had a fantastic morning, raising £2,625 including match funding from Mark Jackson of Fakenham Barclays, which was just unbelievable.
“We have also had a very generous donation from Swaffham Lions and are overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity.
“The morning was a fantastic success, as always with the support of all our friends, family and amazing customers at Just Hair coming in their droves.” A total of 324 people bought tickets.
Fellow marathon runners and Just Hair colleagues were in attendance at the coffee morning, including Lucy Dickerson, the mother of Cole, who will be running the marathon in support of her son.
Hairdresser Tanya Pitt was also in attendance. She is running in Gill’s team on Sunday, April 28.
The next event for the cause will be a hog roast at 6.30pm on Saturday, April 6, at Market Cross. Tickets cost £10 for adults or £5 for under 12s and can be bought from Market Cross or Just Hair.
