LEARN MOREStudents from the College of West Anglia have been given some careers advice by staff from a town garden centre.
The trip to the Dobbies site on Lynn's Hardwick Retail Park was organised as part of the learners’ Certificate in Personal & Social Skills, giving them an opportunity to use their travel and planning training to get to the store and back.
Georgina Isherwood, community champion and events coordinator, gave the group a tour of the site and led them in hands-on activities, such as potting.
She said: “We are really passionate with getting involved with the local community.
"It was a huge pleasure to have the CWA students visit our store; their enthusiasm was amazing and I hope they enjoyed their visit as much as I did!”
Gemma Doughty, CWA work placement and careers coordinator foundation,
added: “Today really benefitted our students – some of them have expressed
an interest in horticulture so coming to Dobbies was perfect for them. They all interacted really well and asked some very interesting questions.”
