College staff learn new techniques at King's Lynn gentlemen's grooming business
Men's grooming business Captain Fawcett's Emporium based on Lynn's Hardwick Narrows Estate, hosted a networking evening for staff from the College of West Anglia.
Hair and beauty department team members watched demonstrations by Anth Edwards, owner of Anth’s Barbershop in Terrington St Clement, and college barbering alumni James Allen, the ‘Straight Edge Barber’, who is currently resident at Banks Barbershop in Wisbech.
In addition to the barbering presentations, the evening also hosted a raffle fundraiser in aid of Barbers Ride – a yearly motorcycling event that raises funds for the Alder-Hey Children’s Hospital and Guerrilla Barbering a charity that works with the homeless.
Attendees received a tour of the emporium, which is currently expanding to include a coffee shop and museum, which will offer a diverse display of art, barbering memorabilia, artefacts and even a customised Harley Davidson.
Neil Lonsdale, hair and beauty teaching support officer and assessor, said: “The evening was excellent. We all learned something new and are excited to incorporate these new techniques into our teaching.”
The emporium said it was delighted to host the event and looks forward to fostering an ongoing working relationship with the College of West Anglia.
