Swaffham’s Oasis Centre offers mental health support to secondary school-aged children with free drop-in sessions

A space for Swaffham teenagers will be opening up in the new year offering a drop-in support service.

Organised by community church the Oasis Centre, the after-school weekly sessions will offer secondary school-aged children a free latte, snacks and a warm space to do homework.

However, the focus of the sessions is to offer mental health support to teenagers. A trained mental health first aider will be on hand to assist the young people.

Amy Jeffery from the Oasis Centre said: “As Christians, we believe every age group need love and care, and we hope this weekly drop-in will help some of the high school children.”

The after-school drop-ins will start on Tuesday, January 14 next year.

On Wednesday, January 15, the Oasis Centre is also starting tea and toast from 8.30-9.30am on a monthly basis to begin with for anyone who may be struggling or just want a hot drink and a chat.
