King's Lynn company's award is food for thought
A company in Lynn has received a special award in recognition to its organisation during the pandemic.
Greenyard Frozen UK, based on the Hardwick Industrial Estate, has been key in the frozen and fresh fruit and vegetables supply chain globally.
The award was presented to operations director Neil Winner by Peter Wilson, vice-lord lieutenant of Norfolk, and previously chief executive of Norwich Theatre Royal.
Mr Winner said: "This award is to recognise the commitment and dedication of our employees who worked tirelessly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic in order to keep our operation running.
"Our vision is all about making lives healthier, and our great team of people meant that we managed to stay true to that vision by supplying our customers and consumers with record volumes of frozen fruit and vegetables despite the challenging conditions we were operating in.
"Being designated as key workers during the early stages of the pandemic was something which we embraced as an organisation because we felt that it gave us an opportunity to do something positive during a challenging period.
"We are proud of what we delivered during those dark times, and now being presented with this plaque in order to commemorate our efforts reminds us all that we did something good and played our part in helping to keep the nation fed."
