A public consultation has been launched on controversial plans to close a West Norfolk village’s recycling centre.

Proposals to shut the facility in Docking next year, subject to a consultation, were approved by Norfolk County Council’s environment, development and transport (EDT) committee two weeks ago.

The plan will also see operating days slashed from seven to four at the sites in Heacham and Ashill.

But the move, which was passed on the casting vote of committee chairman Toby Coke, sparked an angry reaction from other West Norfolk-based representatives who vowed to fight to retain the site.

The consultation, which began on Monday, is open until October 25.

Comments from it will then be reported to the EDT committee when it meets on November 20.
