Four more patients have died with coronavirus at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, according to latest figures.

A total of 557 people have now died after testing positive for the virus at the Gayton Road site since the start of the pandemic nearly two years ago.

However, there has been a sharp fall in the number of patients being treated for Covid-19 at the QEH, with latest figures showing 56 admissions in the seven days to February 20 – down 20 on the previous week.

Infections also appear to be continuing to slow down across West Norfolk as a whole.

Figures for the seven days to yesterday showed 682 positive tests were recorded in the borough, a fall of 201 cases, or nearly 23 per cent, on the previous week.

However, the area's rolling infection rate remained higher than other neighbouring districts, based on the latest available measurement up to February 23.
