Coronavirus: New death recorded at King's Lynn hospital

Another patient has died with coronavirus at Lynn's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The latest recorded fatality occurred on Thursday, according to figures released by NHS England today.

The cases take the total Covid-related death toll at the QEH since the start of the pandemic to 536.

A total of 47 patients were admitted to the QEH with coronavirus during the latest recorded seven-day period to last Sunday, January 9 – up by two on the previous week – with 116 admissions to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital over the same period.

But case numbers are continuing to fall with figures for the latest seven day period to yesterday, showing 1,511 new infections in West Norfolk – down by 629 on the previous week.

That total, which included 181 cases recorded on Sunday alone, represents a near 30 per cent fall in week-on-week infections.

In Breckland, a total of 1,321 infections were recorded over the same period, down by 437 or almost 25 per cent on the previous week.

And the equivalent figure in North Norfolk, which includes Fakenham, was down by a third to 878.
