Plans to build a new home on the site of a dilapidated bungalow in Hunstanton have been approved, despite warnings over flood risks.
Environment Agency officials had objected to the proposal for the site in South Beach Road, arguing that the area was at “high risk” of flooding from the sea.
But members of the West Norfolk Council planning committee approved the proposal during a meeting in Lynn on Monday.
Ahead of the meeting, council planners had recommended approval, arguing that the developers’ intention to employ flood resilient construction techniques would help to address the agency’s concerns.
They also said a flood evacuation plan could be secured in order to further reduce safety risks at the site.
