Denver Parish Council make purchase of playing field

A parish council has bought its village playing field to secure the long term future of the space.

Denver Parish Council has made the £50,000 purchase of the playing field, which is currently run by their own association.

The council bought the field from Ely Diocese to “secure this green open space for generations to come”.

Denver Playing Field Association CIO will continue to manage the playing field.

The association holds events such as car boots, fun days and sporting events.

Mark Pollard, Denver Parish Council chairman, said: “This was a big project for a small council to embark on and we are thrilled to have this important part of Denver protected for the many village sports, school and other groups that benefit from it.

“The support from the villagers was essential in enabling us to proceed with the purchase and we thank them for their support.”

The purchase was made from a £50,000 grant of Community Infrastructure Levy funding from the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk and the rest by securing a Public Works Loan.
