West Norfolk council helps light fuse of Hunstanton Fireworks display
Hunstanton's fireworks display, organised by Hunstanton and District Round Table 615, is being supported by West Norfolk Council this year.
The event which includes a laser and music show, funfair and stalls, takes place on Saturday, November 6 on the Cliff Top in Hunstanton.
Stuart Dark, leader of the council, said: “This is an event I've attended many times with my family and I know how highly regarded it is by local residents.
"When we heard that this year’s display was facing additional challenges due to the difficult last 18 months, we felt it was absolutely right to step in and offer assistance.
"Not only to support this excellent evening but the great west Norfolk charities it supports, who have also had their fund-raising impacted upon by the pandemic.
“The borough council has agreed to underwrite the surplus that would be raised for charity should attendance be slightly lower this year due to the covid situation at the time.
"I look forward to enjoying this event for many years to come."
Wes Attwell, chairman of Hunstanton and District Round Table 615 said: “We’re grateful for the support the borough council has offered in this instance and look forward to putting on the best show ever.
"Gates open at 5pm, the bonfire will be lit at 6pm and the fireworks go off from 7.30pm.
"Remember, remember, the sixth of November and put Hunstanton Fireworks display in your diary now.”
