Council to waive Fakenham parking charges on Remembrance Sunday

Car parking charges will be waived at three sites in Fakenham on Remembrance Sunday, North Norfolk District Council has announced.

Members of the public will be able to use the car parks in Bridge Street, Queens Road and The Limes free on November 8 so they can pay their respects to the town's war dead.

No major public events are planned this year, because of the continuing coronavirus crisis.

But the authority said: "While of course large scale events will be unable to take place this year, it is important that communities have the opportunity to take part in this national day of remembrance."

West Norfolk Council has already urged its residents to take part in commemorations at home after outlining plans to stream a scaled back service in Lynn's Tower Gardens.
