Flytippers are being blamed for the mess shown above after waste thought to contain asbestos was dumped in Clockcase Lane, Clenchwarton.
David Whitby, the village’s borough councillor, yesterday said he had been alerted to the incident over the weekend, but fears the material may have been there for up to two weeks.
He has urged residents to be vigilant and to share any information they have about the case with the authorities.
He said: “They’re wasting honest people’s money. The council is trying to keep tax down and while they’re having to deal with rubbish like that, it can’t be used for other services.”
Specialist contractors will have to be brought in to deal with the waste, which officials say will be collected over the next few days. Picture: Supplied
