Downham Councillor steps down as 'one particular councillor is affecting health and wellbeing'
There is a new casual vacancy in Downham after Ben Monlyneux-Hetherington has stepped down from his position as councillor.
The vacancy has been posted on the Downham Council website.
Mayor Jenny Groom said:"Councillor Ben Molyneux-Hetherington has resigned from the Council. His wise and thoughtful input and contributions to such events as Downham Live will be sorely missed.
"His stated reason for resigning was that his health and wellbeing were adversely affected by the ongoing poor behaviour of one particular councillor."
This is not the first time mental health has been mentioned by Downham's councillors.
Last month, the clerk Elaine Oliver revealed she was "worried about walking into town" and her "mental health had been affected" by others' conduct.
Downham Council has been offered mediation by Stuart Dark, head of the Borough Council to resolve ongoing conflict within it's ranks.
The mayor said: "We will accept and start the mediation process as soon as possible," in a previous meeting.
This is the second casual vacancy this year, with a by-election happening last month.
Councillor Tony Leach was duly elected, with a landslide win.
