Swaffham councillors aim to improve community engagement with residents




Swaffham residents may have the chance to speak to their councillors more as they look to improve community engagement.

Councillors discussed the idea of expanding on surgeries held at Swaffham Market Place with the idea of holding events in more locations in a bid to become more accessible to the public.

The possibility of meeting residents in cafes, Swaffham Library and the Barn was discussed.

Swaffham Town Council’s community engagement officer Pheobe Harrison said to councillors: “They may not plan to speak to you, but they may see you and think ‘I will mention that’.”

The council also spoke about introducing videos to its social media sites to be more engaging with residents and promote transparency.

Cllr Graham Edwards said: “Transparency is crucial. The lack of it over the years has annoyed some people.”
