Husband and wife in Stoke Ferry offer Wild West experience at Hank’s Ranch
You don’t have to travel to America to experience the Wild West, or even leave the county, as a husband and wife have opened their very own ranch to members of the public to get that cowboy experience.
Hank’s Ranch opened in early December and offers accommodation with a southern twist, giving people the opportunity to spend the night in a Wild West-themed log cabin complete with a king-size bed, kitchen and bathroom.
The ranch is the brainchild of Hank Pender and his wife Sarah, who have been busy building it on a 3.5-acre site in Stoke Ferry.
“We have done quite a bit of travelling around America, Canada and the Rockies and visited quite a few ghost towns and liked the look of them,” said Sarah.
“It’s something a little bit different and fun and unique for Norfolk.”
Visitors can spend the night in “jail” in the prison-themed cabin – although it's promised to be a lot more luxurious than a night in custody.
The general store and church are other accommodation complexes coming soon to Hank’s Ranch.
Sarah added: “In the summer we plan to add a saloon which will act as a visitors centre where people can play cards, listen to music and have a drink at the bar.
“Everything is built by Hank, and it is all hand-crafted.”
Each cabin can sleep two people, meaning a total of six people can stay at Hank’s ranch when the other cabins are finished – Hank and Sarah are planning to offer group experiences.
Currently, jail is available to stay in on weekends while Hank and Sarah are finishing off the other cabins during the week.
