Nordelph craft fair will raise funds for baby loss charities
Charities which support families dealing with the anguish of losing a baby will benefit from a forthcoming craft fair in a West Norfolk village.
The event is due to take place at the village hall in Nordelph on Sunday, October 10, between 10am and 3pm.
Organiser Cate Waters said: "One in four pregnancies end in loss and it can be a devastating time for families.
"Particularly at the end of 15 months of lockdown and restrictions, many mums, dads and families have suffered in silence , and there has been an increase in mental health problems, and depression.
"From the 9th-15th October, it is Baby Loss Awareness Week, and so we have gathered together with other support groups including Coping and Living through Miscarriage (CALM) and present at the fayre will be the Still Birth and Neonatal Death Society (SANDS), Mearfest which is a still birth charity, Victoria's Memory Teddies, and many other craft stalls, including candles from East Farm Candle Company.
"This is very appropriate to buy a candle for the global wave of light, when bereaved families light a candle in memory of their loved ones, bespoke bags, children's toys and dolly crafts, jewellery, wooden crafts and relaxation products and greetings cards."
"We shall have our CALM stall with all our contact details, and all the services we offer to help parents to cope; the Book of Remembrance, a monthly support group, a Monthly remembrance service at the Congregational Church at the village hall, Nordelph.
"There will be someone on the phone if anyone has had trouble coping, together with how to get involved with the community garden which allows a space for bereaved mothers to spend time with their angel babies in a quiet space.
"The garden is currently under construction, so anyone who wants to help develop the garden both for remembrance and for general community use might like to attend and get to speak to some of the organisers."
