Firefighters have been called to tackle a blaze on open ground in North Wootton this morning.

Lynn-based units attended the scene in Gatehouse Lane at around 6.45am today.

The incident is the latest of dozens of similar blazes across West Norfolk in recent weeks, during the continuing hot weather.

Last night, a Fakenham crew was called to a fire on open ground in Lynn Road, Terrington St Clement, at around 7.50pm.

However, another incident reported in Watlington at around the same time was found to be a false alarm caused by a controlled burn.

There was also a blaze affecting a farm machine and a stubble field in Terrington St Clement shortly after 5.30pm yesterday.
