Crowdfunding appeal launched to support Downham Market restaurant after flood damage

Residents in Downham have set up a crowdfunding appeal to support a business in the town which has been affected by flash flooding this week.

The fundraising page was created this morning, after Arbuckles revealed it had suffered "heartbreaking" damage following the flooding on Wednesday, which it said would take "many, many months" to restore the building to its "full glory".

On the JustGiving page, Carolyn Johnson, who set up the fundraiser, said she is hoping to give back to Arbuckles, particularly as members of their staff have helped the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

She said: "On Wednesday June 17th, Arbuckles Restaurant in Downham Market was devastated by flash flooding just as they were getting ready to hopefully reopen after being closed due to coronavirus.

"During the lockdown this family business helped the local community by organising deliveries to our local community.

"They are now facing many more additional months of closure, please if you can donate, lets help them, like they have helped us."
