Dan’s the Denver hero to beat Northwold by one run

Division One

In a thrilling match Denver scored 165 for 7 with Chris Rolfe scoring 40 and Paul Morton 41.

J Plumpton took 3 for 45 and top scored with 46 for Northwold.

A 35 from Ash Drohan and 31 from Ady Seymour saw Northwold on target for victory but Denver’s bowlers held their nerve with 3 for 39 from Chris Rolfe and 3 for 20 from Alan Thulbourne. The 10th wicket was a run out by Dan Harper which saw Denver to victory by one run with three balls left.

In the top of the table clash, Snettisham came through in a closely fought match by 14 runs.

Batting first Snettisham scored 146 for 9 with Carl Smith taking 3 for 24. Hockwold looked well placed at 122 for 5 but Kieran Herbert 4 for 41 and Jonathan Forder 4 for 22 regularly took wickets as five batsmen scored over 10, but none of them made it past 20 as they were bowled out for 132 in the 31st over.

Sandringham moved to within a point of Hockwold with a comfortable seven-wicket win against Castle Rising. Chris Smith took 4 for 7 and Callum Lee 4 for 10 to dismiss Castle Rising for 85.

In a low scoring match Hillington bowled out Heacham for 71 with Daniel Blackmuir taking 3 for 19. Shane Fisher top scored with 35 but Hillington still lost six wickets reaching the victory target.

Division Two

Castle Acre maintained their unbeaten start whilst ending Gooderstone’s. Nicky Whales top scored with 68 as Castle Acre scored 177 for 9. Andy Dixon took 4 for 45 for Gooderstone. Tom Brown took 5 for 28 and Jethro Agnew 3 for 27 as Gooderstone were dismissed for 115.

Brian Freeman scored 70 as Sandringham A posted a total of 195 all out with Jonathan Sadler taking 4 for 38. Jack Wells scored 65 in Fakenham 3rds’ reply of 140 with Brian Freeman taking 4 for 22.

Jack Crisp took 6 for 15 as Narborough A bowled out Holt for 115 with Ciaran Chapman top scoring with 46. ’Boro A were made to work hard for their win with Robin Thaxter taking 3 for 14 and Peter Holmes 3 for 33 as they won by three wickets in the 40th over.

AMBit Projects MoM Owen Chandler spun nine-man Hospital to victory taking 5 for 19 as Downham B were bowled out for 77. Dean Tooley took 5 for 22 as Downham B applied a lot of pressure before Hospital reached the target with three wickets in hand.

Division Three

Gayton put Castle Rising to the sword amassing a huge total of 323 for 8 which included two centurions. Mark Tilbrook scored 133 (15x4, 7x6) and Andrew Thompson 101 (14x4, 4x6). Castle Rising batted out their overs for 114 for 9 to lose by 209 runs.

Dersingham A declared on 234 for 1 with Jamie Cook 101 retired and Dickie Sayers 50ret. Jack Cotton took 3 for 12 and Neil Pickering 3 for 15 as Gooderstone A were bowled out for 44.

James Dorling 82 and Andrew Pragg 49 had an opening partnership of 135 but once that was broken five ducks followed as Martyn Wardle took 5 for 25 and Henry Davidson 3 for 37 as Swaffham A reached 189 all out. In reply Denver scored 161 for 9 in their 45 overs with 36 from Tom Gilbert. Harry Exley took 3 for 41 and Ben Mills 3 for 19.

Bircham A maintained their perfect start to the season with a 42-run victory over Snettisham A. A 112 run partnership between John King 65 and Paul Brown 59 helped Bircham A reach 211 for 7. Daniel Cook scored 46 in Snettisham’s reply of 169 with Mark Riches taking 4 for 31.
