Downham Market’s Legacy Dance School celebrates holding first annual show in King’s Lynn’s Corn Exchange

A Downham dance school is celebrating after holding its first annual street dance show.

Students at Legacy Dance, based on Trafalgar Industrial Estate, took to Lynn’s Alive Corn Exchange on September 20 to put on a jam-packed show, with dancers aged four to 21 taking to the stage.

Layla Wilkinson from Legacy said students put on a “high energy authentic street dance show” and were able to do so after building up their school’s community over the years.

Two of the school’s award-winning teams, ‘Bellatrix’ and ‘Unknown’ performed their competition sets alongside solos and duo acts.

Students had been practising different sets throughout the year as well as a variety of routines to perform at Denver Fun Day and Downham’s Carnival earlier on in the year.

She said: “The standing ovation at the end of our finale went on for a few minutes with screams and cheers for all of our dancers.

“We will take to the stage again next year, hoping for a sell-out show.”

The dance school has been running for eight years, and has been located in Downham for two of those.
